LDJ'S STATEMENT ON SOFTWARE PIRACY
Software piracy causes harm to software publishers, the
distribution channel and the software user. According to
a joint study commissioned by the Business Software
Alliance and the Software Publisher's Association,
worldwide losses to the software industry due to
software piracy in 1996 exceeded $11.2 billion dollars.
Furthermore, piracy losses in the United States resulted
in 130,000 lost jobs and $5.3 billion in lost wages.
Software piracy has a direct effect on the economy. |
